The Tessera Residence

A contemporary family residence that redefines tropical living through its play of light, material, and landscape. The design responds to its natural surroundings — embracing raw concrete, natural timber, and expansive glass to blur the boundary between interior and exterior. Every detail was crafted to foster a sense of calm and connection to the natural environment.

The Tessera Residence emerged from a simple idea: that a home should breathe with its landscape. Sitting on a gentle slope overlooking the Canggu rice terraces, the structure cascades down the site in a series of interconnected volumes. Natural cross-ventilation replaces mechanical cooling. Rainwater is harvested. The materials — board-formed concrete, reclaimed teak, and volcanic stone — were sourced locally, giving the home an authenticity that synthetic materials could never achieve.

The interiors follow the same philosophy. Open-plan living areas dissolve into shaded terraces. The master suite is a private sanctuary framed by a lap pool that mirrors the sky. Even the smallest details — the hand-forged ironwork, the custom woven textiles — reflect an unwavering commitment to craft.
